Ken Kramer

Dr. Ken Kramer is the volunteer Water Resources Chair for the Lone Star Chapter of the Sierra Club. He retired in 2012 after over 23 years as the first Lone Star Chapter Director and a previous seven years as a contract lobbyist for the Chapter.

Dr. Kramer has a B.A. in History from Texas Lutheran University, an M.A. in Political Science from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Rice University. His dissertation focused on the implementation of federal air and water pollution control policy in Texas. Dr. Kramer has taught government and political science, including classes in water policy and politics, at El Paso Community College, Houston Community College, Angelo State University, and Texas A&M University.

Dr. Kramer has served on numerous state and regional advisory bodies working on water and the environment. These include the state Water Conservation Advisory Council, the environmental flows stakeholder committees for two Texas bay/basin areas (Galveston Bay/Trinity & San Jacinto Basins and the Brazos Basin, and the Advisory Council for the Environmental Science Institute at The University of Texas at Austin.

Dr. Kramer edited The Living Waters of Texas, published by Texas A&M University Press in 2010.
