Texas Water Foundation Hosts 9th Water, Texas Film Festival
Austin, TX - On April, 30 Texas Water Foundation welcomed 150 film and water enthusiasts at the Austin Film Society’s Cinema to preview our four 2024 Water, Texas Film Festival winners.
Each year, Texas Water Foundation and Austin Film Society invite filmmakers, creatives, and advocates from across the state to submit unique, thought-provoking films about Texas water. Texas Water Foundation is proud to have submissions judged by award winning director, TWF Board Member, and Austin Film Society Founder, Richard Linklater.
The Water, Texas Film Festival was created to encourage Texans to evaluate their relationship to water in their communities and beyond. Through creative films we can narrow in on the multitude of moments that connect us to water everyday, reminding the public of the invisible work that fuels our state. We believe that storytelling, whether as documentaries or art, is a powerful way to shift the narrative, and a critical part of how Texans will shape their water future.
The selected four winners for 2024 were talented filmmakers who saw the art found in the true lifeblood of Texas- water. Through their work we saw the organizations, communities, and champions who inspire the continued prioritization of Texas water. We hope you will take the time to explore each of their short works and reflect on the stories told within the context of your own community.
